More Loft Apartments Coming to the Fashion District of Downtown Los Angeles at 950 S Broadway

The Downtown News has reported that 950 S. Broadway, the seven-story structure across from the Ace Hotel, has plans to be turned into 30 loft apartments, and will include a rooftop deck, as well as 7,500 square feet of retail space.

950broadwayDesigned by Killefer Flammang Architects, which has done many Downtown LA adaptive reuse projects, the plan is to restore the historic look of the original facade, namely by re-creating a decorative cornice along the roofline and adding some balconies. White plaster will replace today’s gray concrete surfacing on the exterior.

The 102-year-old building happens to sit in the Fashion District adjacent to Palmer’s under-construction Broadway Palace, which will create nearly 700 apartments in new seven- and 10-story structures at Olympic Boulevard and Broadway. A budget and construction timeline have not been revealed.
