2016 DTLA Real Estate Market Report: In Downtown Los Angeles, fewer homes sold, and they took longer to sell in 2016, but prices increased. The 2nd half of 2016 saw 38 fewer homes sold in Downtown LA compared to the same period of 2015. Average days on the market increased from 59 in 2015 to 69 in 2016. Downtown L.A. home prices increased from $621,852 to $657,214.

For some time, Downtown Los Angeles has avoided the kind of disaster: large numbers of people inside a building that has been set up to be a creative spot, but also a deadly trap. When artists band together to live and create art, life can truly be special, and the environment can be spectacular, but when safety is ignored in favor of economy and fun, then danger will reign. Art, antiques, collectibles, music, creativity, beauty and social events are valuable, but the lives of artists and their fans are priceless. Lots of artwork and decor make for a very fast spreading fire. Here are some safety tips for lofts:

  • Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors are required by law.
  • Numerous fire sprinklers must be installed according to city ordinances.
  • Large groups of people must have more than one clearly marked exit.
  • Fire extinguishers should be mounted near doorways.
  • At the first sign of danger, get out immediately.
