Home Sales Top 15 Year Sales Record 6 million In 2021

Can’t Build Homes Fast Enough

Happy New Year! Looking to buy in 2022? Last year was a barn burner with 6 million units sold.

The US housing market has had a white hot year. Home sales are on track to reach the highest level in 15 years, with an estimated 6 million homes sold in 2021. But whether you benefited from this surge depended a lot on if you were selling a home or buying one.Homeowners saw average home prices skyrocket nearly 20% through the third quarter compared to a year ago, according to the Federal Housing Finance Agency. It was the largest annual home price increase in the history of the agency’s House Price Index. And, in some hot markets, the price increase was double that. 

America’s 10 most expensive zip codes have median home prices over $4 million Homes also sold at a record pace, with sellers often fielding multiple competing bids and all-cash offers. Even homes that were disgusting or burned out sold quickly, and at amounts that were well over the asking price.

Despite low inventory and rising prices, home sales inched higher in October, marking a second straight month of growth, according to a report from the National Association of Realtors.Sales of existing homes, which include single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums and co-ops, rose 0.8% month-over-month. After slowing during the summer, sales reignited in September, which saw a 7% monthly increase.

Year-over-year, home sales were down 5.8% from October 2020, which marked the cyclical peak in the pandemic surge in home buying.

Lawrence Yun NAR’s chief economist, said this year’s sales are on track to surpass 6 million homes, which would be the strongest performance since 2006.

Safer Family-Friendly Lakewood Full of Activities to Enjoy

You might not be able to point to Lakewood on a map. It’s a charming suburb of Los Angeles near Long Beach. But you know what, that’s part of what makes it so charming! When you live in Lakewood, you get all of the sunshine and beaches of California without the crowds. Lakewood might be a small town, but there’s way more to do here than you might think! It’s a great time to shop for a home in Lakewood.  Let’s see some of the variety you can find here.

Brewery in town

A trip to Lakewood, CA, no matter how short, should definitely include a stop at Timeless Pints Brewing Company, Lakewood’s only microbrewery, located just behind Long Beach Airport. Here, you can relax with a pint of craft beer in your hand or sample their wide variety of beers available on tap, including IPAs, stouts, and ales. You can sit outside and order something to eat too, to go with your drink.

Lakewood Equestrian Center

When in town with the kids, Lakewood Equestrian Center is always a good idea for family time and outdoor fun. The horseback riding center is a training facility that offers pony rides, a petting zoo, and a variety of equestrian activities, including riding lessons and horse training. Pony Time, a private company located on the center’s grounds, offers different kid-friendly activities and events, including camps and birthday parties. Through Shoestring City Ranch, a non-profit organization, the center also helps rescue horses.

West San Gabriel River Parkway Nature Trail

There’s no better way to relax than by reconnecting with nature, breathing fresh air, and taking the time to look around to witness its glory. When in Lakewood, one of the best places for taking walks is West San Gabriel River Parkway Nature Trail, a tree-lined trail that stretches along the San Gabriel River, offering beautiful vistas, bird watching, and biking and jogging options. Your dog is welcome to join you on your walk, as long as it’s kept on a leash.
