Los Angeles Magazine just came out with its New-New Downtown Urban Adventurer’s Handbook.  While the issue cover title is “51 Ways to Explore DTLA,” the L.A. Loft Blog is of course offering 52 Ways to Explore DTLA because real estate is a fantastic way to travel through and familiarize oneself with any neighborhood, especially Downtown L.A. And just when we thought that we’d one-upped Los Angeles Magazine, they’ve already added three additional ways to explore, so we’re now at 55 ways to explore Downtown LA.

A better title would be “Things to See and Do in Downtown Los Angeles.” The article starts with the restaurants and recreation spots of the Arts District, and includes several craft-brewering beer breweries. A bunch of rooftop restaurants and scenic perches give visitors a chance to observe everything in one sweep. Other neighborhood attractions include Chinatown’s renewed State Historic Park and Little Tokyo’s sushi stops. The hotels of the Historic Core and South Park, art houses and coffee roasters lure explorers along, where they can finally sit down and enjoy a classic film at the fancy historic theaters of the gilded age.   |  TOUR

An industrial loft is a live/work residential space, usually converted from a previous older work-related space that has been used for an industry related to manufacturing or other commercial production business. Many industrial lofts are constructed primarily of concrete, brick, wood or steal, giving them a uniquely sturdy character, often with historic and antique features. Many of these lofts are in the Arts District.

Downtown Los Angeles offers several industrial style buildings with loft for sale and for lease. With large open space, big windows and concrete floors or wood instead of carpet, these renovated and updated robust buildings are now considered by young urban professionals to be the most “modern” of homes in terms of today’s style requirements. Industrial lofts tend to be the most pet friendly of all urban housing, often allowing large dogs and well-behaved animals of stereotypically aggressive breeds such as rottweilers, pit bulls, german shepherds etc.  Some industrial buildings have 2-story lofts with two levels including mezzanine bed area, that give the loft extra high ceilings and extra bed separation.
