Armed thugs and looters firmly in control of Los Angeles
REAL ESTATE NEWS — In Los Angeles, the police are telling people, if you can believe this, not to drive a nice car and not to go outside. What if you only own a nice car? What happens if your wedding ring happens to be really nice? It’s an acknowledgment by the police that they cannot handle the criminal activity in Los angeles because criminals are considered victims now, and the cops are increasingly chastised as the villains. Now we have this situation where the police are giving these tips: Travel in groups and remain in well-lit areas. Be aware of surroundings and people around you. Take a different route home after shopping and do not resist if approached during a robbery. Armed robbery — do not resist.
These are some things that the state department would warn you about if you are traveling to Libya in 2004. But, this is in Los Angeles, the second largest city in the country. This is unbelievable what is happening here. It just goes to show you that we’ve got these prosecutors releasing serious criminals two hours after they are arrested.
You need to be watching where you are because you have no idea who is peering over your shoulder. That list is a hallmark of inevitability. Crime is happening anywhere and everywhere across the Los Angeles Area, including illegal mini bike fabrication in Compton, and escalating serious crime in upscale West Los Angeles.
On March 22, smash-and grab burglars made off with millions in stolen goods from a Beverly Hills jewelry store. Police said at least five masked suspects in black and gray hoodies broke through the thick, tempered glass window of Luxury Jewels of Beverly Hills. The afternoon burglary was captured on video by several onlookers. In one video, a driver who passed by the jewelry store recorded the suspects grabbing items out of the smashed storefront window.
LAPD Chief Michel Moore told the civilian Police Commission that robberies involving firearms were up 57% from 2020 and 60% from 2019 — with hundreds more incidents so far this year than last.
Through the middle of March, property crime was up more than 5% over last year, with car thefts again a serious concern. Vehicle thefts are up nearly 44% compared to the same time last year.
Worst of all violent gun crimes, like drive-by shootings and armed robbery, are totally out of control in just about every neighborhood compared to five years ago, putting all Angelenos in serious danger. The only way to improve the serious crime statistics in L.A., and to cut down on deaths, injuries and financial loss, is to acknowledge the level of failure, then to make the major changes necessary to reverse the deadly trend.
